Do you use high pressure to remove lichen?
No. Guardian Wash does not use damaging high pressure to blast lichen from the roof. We apply a professional treatment designed to kill the growth at the root and allow it to naturally break down and wash away over time.
Do you remove lichen by hand?
No. We do not get onto the roof to manually scrape or pull lichen off. Manual removal can damage roofing surfaces and create unnecessary safety risks.
Will the roof look completely clean immediately?
No. Roof treatment is a gradual process. Moss, mould and lichen are treated first, then the dead growth breaks down and washes away naturally over time.
How long does the treatment take to work?
Visible changes can begin within the first few weeks, but full results may take several months. Heavy lichen or established organic growth can take longer to fully break down.
Do you wash the roof before applying treatment?
Where included in the accepted scope, Guardian Wash completes a professional roof soft wash before applying the treatment. This removes surface dirt and helps the treatment reach the remaining organic growth more effectively.
Can some lichen come off during the roof wash?
Some loose growth may be removed during the washing process. However, the goal is not to blast lichen from the roof. The treatment is designed to kill the remaining growth at the root.
Is roof treatment suitable for tank water properties?
Roof treatment requires special consideration when roof runoff enters a drinking water tank. Downpipes may need to be safely disconnected or redirected before treatment. Where this cannot be completed safely, we may recommend a roof wash without treatment.
What happens if it rains after treatment?
The treatment needs suitable time to settle and begin working. Guardian Wash will assess the weather conditions before application and reschedule where necessary.
How often should a roof be treated?
The recommended frequency depends on the roof material, surrounding trees, shade, moisture and the amount of organic growth. We can recommend an appropriate maintenance schedule after assessing the property.
